Utilizing Channel Bars

Channel bars is an iron beam that has a web and two flanges at the top and bottom of the web. Unlike I Beams, it does not have flanges on both sides of the web. It is light and flexible; thus engineers utilize it for projects that do not require a high torsional strength. The uses of channel bars are aplenty and are mostly for structural purposes.

Walls, roofs, window frames, and metal buildings are some applications for channel bars. In warehouses, steel channels bear the vertical load of the building. Commercial fire door frames utilize channel bars as well as the metal is slid over the wall into the door opening. For metal buildings, I Beams and channel bars work hand-in-hand as it is often welded, bolted or riveted into place.
